Abraham thought it was his responsibility to find a wife for his son Isaac (Genesis 24:4). David saw good qualities in Abigail and pursued her, (1 Samuel 25:39-40) and Jacob was very bold about his intentions for his future spouse, Rachel “give me my wife, my time is completed, and I want to lie with her” (Genesis 29:21). Now how is that for keeping it real!
All these scenarios were based on needs, desires and the whole idea that there was a standard to leave your family and cleave to someone else (Genesis 2:24). In the Bible, the people of God felt the need, they knew what God expected and they sprung into action.
